Cara Delevingne has seemingly distanced herself from former friend Kanye West following his recent wave of controversial remarks.
The British supermodel, 32, who once shared a friendly relationship with the rapper, 47, and his ex-wife Kim Kardashian,
44, appeared to take a swipe at West by resharing a resurfaced clip of late singer Amy Winehouse criticizing him during a performance.
In the viral video, Winehouse, who was Jewish, can be heard saying,
“At least I’m not opening for a c**t like Kanye,” during her 2008 Glastonbury Festival set.
She also joked that “C***s like Kanye should be his next album title!” The resurfaced footage has gained renewed attention amid West’s recent string of antisemitic, racist,
and sexist statements. The clip originally featured an overlay caption that read, “Amy Winehouse hating Kanye West is my favorite thing.”
Delevingne’s repost comes as West finds himself at the center of widespread backlash over his inflammatory comments and actions, which included promoting a swastika-emblazoned T-shirt on his now-defunct website. The scandal has led to further distancing from both celebrities and businesses.
Kanye West Faces Mounting Criticism
West, who was accused of antisemitism in 2022 for making derogatory remarks about Jewish people, recently reignited controversy with a three-day tirade of offensive social media posts. His comments included openly identifying as a Nazi, professing admiration for Hitler, and declaring he would never work with Jewish individuals again.
His inflammatory statements quickly drew the condemnation of Jewish organizations, public figures, and former supporters. A spokesperson for the Jewish Leadership Council described West’s rhetoric as not only hateful but dangerous, warning that his remarks could inspire real-world harm against Jewish communities. Similarly, the Campaign Against Antisemitism called West an “unrepentant, proud antisemite” and pointed out that his posts had been viewed by more people than the global Jewish population.
Hollywood stars have also spoken out against him, with actress Isla Fisher urging her followers to unfollow West, labeling him a “monster” in a scathing Instagram post. Friends actor David Schwimmer also condemned West’s statements, describing him as a “deranged bigot” whose rhetoric could fuel real-life violence. Schwimmer called for Elon Musk to permanently remove West’s account from X (formerly Twitter), arguing that silence in the face of such hatred equates to complicity.
West’s Website Shut Down After Super Bowl Ad
Adding to the fallout, West recently purchased a Super Bowl advertising slot to promote a $20 T-shirt featuring a swastika. The stunt was met with swift action from e-commerce platform Shopify, which promptly shut down his website, citing violations of its policies. The rapper’s Yeezy brand has since vanished from the internet, marking yet another major business loss.
Bianca Censori Reportedly Files for Divorce
On top of his professional and public relations troubles, West is reportedly facing personal turmoil, as his wife, Bianca Censori, is allegedly preparing to end their marriage. Just 11 days after making headlines for her barely-there outfit at the 2024 Grammys, Censori is said to be seeking a legal separation from the rapper.
Sources close to the couple claim they have already reached a verbal agreement, with Censori expected to receive a $5 million settlement. While she is reportedly staying at their $35 million home in Beverly Park North, Los Angeles, West’s current whereabouts remain unknown. Speculation suggests he may return to Tokyo, Japan, where he spent a significant amount of time last year.
The pair’s relationship has sparked concern among fans since their wedding in December 2022, particularly due to Censori’s frequent public appearances in revealing outfits, which many believe are dictated by West. Despite public criticism, the rapper has insisted he does not force her to dress a certain way, although he recently made a controversial statement about his control over her.
“I HAVE DOMINION OVER MY WIFE THIS AINT NO WOKE AS FEMINIST S**T SHES WITH A BILLIONAIRE WHY WOULD SHE LISTEN TO ANY OF YOU DUMB A** BROKE B*****S,” West reportedly wrote in one of his now-deleted social media posts.
Celebrities Distance Themselves from West
Delevingne is far from the only celebrity to turn on West following his latest scandal. While she once attended his concerts and socialized with him and Kardashian, the supermodel has now aligned herself with those publicly condemning him. Her decision to share the Winehouse clip sends a clear message that she no longer supports the controversial musician.
As West’s reputation continues to decline, it remains to be seen how he will navigate the growing backlash. With his business ventures collapsing, his social media presence restricted, and his marriage reportedly ending, the rapper faces an uncertain future.
