Angelina Jolie recently demonstrated her unwavering support for her daughter, Zahara Jolie,
as the 20-year-old took the stage as a keynote speaker at Women in Training Inc.’s annual brunch in Montgomery, Alabama.
The event, which took place on Saturday, focused on the pressing issue of period poverty, a cause Zahara is deeply passionate about.
Period poverty refers to the lack of access to menstrual products, education, and sanitation facilities for women and girls, as defined by the National Institutes of Health.
Addressing this issue, Zahara, who has been a member of Spelman College’s Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority since November 2023,
delivered an insightful speech at the event’s fourth annual Mother-Daughter Brunch at the Renaissance Hotel.
Among the attendees, Angelina was seen attentively listening to her daughter, clearly moved by her words.
The renowned actress and humanitarian, who adopted Zahara from Ethiopia in 2005 when she was just seven months old, beamed with pride throughout the event. Dressed in a stylish white button-up blouse paired with a matching maxi skirt, Jolie looked effortlessly elegant as she supported her daughter’s advocacy work.
Zahara also made a striking appearance, wearing a chic white dress and pointed-toe heels. The mother-daughter duo posed with guests at the event, highlighting their shared commitment to social causes. The Women in Training Inc. organization expressed their excitement about Zahara’s involvement, with President and CEO Adeyela Bennett stating that they were honored to have her speak on such an important issue. Bennett also acknowledged Jolie’s presence, noting her dedication to supporting her daughter’s advocacy work and the broader goal of ensuring that all young women have access to essential menstrual products.
Apart from Zahara, Jolie shares five other children with her ex-husband, Brad Pitt—Maddox, 23, Pax, 21, Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 16. The family has been actively engaged in humanitarian efforts, with Angelina and her children recently assisting those affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. A source revealed that Jolie’s kids have been volunteering throughout the state, reaching out to communities in need and collaborating with organizations like World Central Kitchen.
The event in Montgomery came shortly after reports surfaced that Jolie and Pitt had finally settled their prolonged divorce battle, bringing an end to an eight-year legal dispute. Despite the resolution, sources have claimed that Pitt is struggling with his estranged relationship with his children, particularly during significant occasions like birthdays and holidays.
Jolie, on the other hand, appears to be focusing on her children and her humanitarian work. Reports suggest that the actress has been reluctant to pursue new romantic relationships, as she still grapples with the emotional toll of her past with Pitt. A source mentioned that Jolie finds fulfillment in her role as a mother and has no immediate interest in dating.
The highly publicized divorce stemmed from a series of allegations, including claims of abuse. Jolie initially filed for divorce in September 2016, just two years after marrying Pitt, following a decade-long relationship. The separation reportedly followed an incident on a private plane, where Pitt allegedly became physically abusive. Jolie has since alleged that Pitt had a history of such behavior before the incident, and she claimed he attempted to coerce her into signing an $8.5 million non-disclosure agreement to silence her about the matter.
Pitt has consistently denied these allegations, maintaining that Jolie has distorted facts throughout the years. He was previously investigated and cleared by law enforcement following the allegations related to the plane incident. Nonetheless, the prolonged legal battle has taken a toll on both parties, with insiders describing it as a harrowing experience for Jolie and her family.
Despite the personal struggles, Jolie remains dedicated to her children and their individual pursuits. Zahara’s advocacy against period poverty aligns with the actress’s history of championing humanitarian causes. Jolie’s presence at the Women in Training Inc. event underscored her commitment to empowering her children and supporting their aspirations.
As Zahara continues to carve her own path, her work in addressing period poverty sheds light on an often-overlooked issue affecting countless women and girls worldwide. With her mother’s unwavering support, she is making a meaningful impact, ensuring that menstrual equity remains a priority in social discussions.
