Ayda Field, a host on the show Loose Women, is receiving criticism for seeming ungrateful when talking about her mom’s struggle with a serious illness off-camera.

Ayda Field was overcome with emotion as she paid tribute to her mother during a special Oscars edition of Loose Women.

The 45-year-old television personality, who was a regular panelist on the popular ITV talk show from 2016 to 2019, has made occasional appearances since 2024.

On Monday, she returned for a special broadcast reflecting on the highlights of the 2025 Academy Awards,

which took place in Los Angeles the previous evening.

During the heartfelt discussion, Ayda was visibly emotional as the panelists reflected on their personal heroes.

The conversation took a touching turn when host Ruth Langsford, 64, posed a question to the group, asking them to name their “Best Supporting Star”—a nod to the Oscars’ tradition of celebrating supporting roles.

Fellow panelists Denise Welch, 66, and Kelly Brook, 45, both selected their parents, prompting Ayda to share a deeply personal tribute to her own mother, Gwen Field.

Fighting back tears, Ayda spoke about Gwen, a respected American film producer, who was present in the live studio audience. She explained how much her mother has meant to her, particularly as she continues to battle Parkinson’s disease and Lupus. In an emotional moment, Ayda described her mother as her “best friend,” “fiercest rock,” and “steady Eddy.”

“I’m incredibly grateful that my mum is here,” Ayda said, her voice breaking with emotion. “Many of you have heard me speak about my mum’s battle with cancer. She has always been my biggest supporter, my confidante, and the person I turn to no matter what. Even now, in this chapter of her life, she continues to teach me the most profound and beautiful lessons. I feel beyond lucky. You are my hero.”

As Ayda finished her heartfelt tribute, the audience erupted into applause. The touching moment culminated in Ayda stepping down from her seat to embrace her mother, creating an emotional highlight of the show.

Ayda’s husband, singer Robbie Williams, was also a topic of discussion during the episode. The former Take That star had been in contention for an Oscar nomination for his song Forbidden Road, which was created for his biopic Better Man. However, the song was ultimately disqualified from the Best Original Song category when it was revealed that it contained a sample from an older track, making it ineligible under the Academy’s rules.

Better Man chronicles Robbie’s rise to fame, but it took an unconventional creative approach by depicting him as a CGI monkey rather than using an actor to portray him. Despite the unusual artistic choice and the disqualification of Forbidden Road, the film has generated significant interest among fans and critics alike.

Ayda’s return to Loose Women was a momentous one, allowing her to share both personal and professional reflections. Her tribute to her mother struck a chord with viewers, many of whom took to social media to express their admiration for her candidness and strength.

As Ayda continues to balance her television career with her personal life, her recent appearance on Loose Women showcased her vulnerability, love for her family, and deep appreciation for the life lessons her mother continues to impart. It was a reminder of the power of family bonds, even in the face of illness and adversity.
